Blog > Business Updates Co-Production Award Finalists at The Great British Care Awards 5 min read Along with Magenta Living, a not-for-profit housing provider, we have been named finalists in the Co-Production category at this year’s Great British Care Awards for the North West region. We have been recognised for the successful collaboration of adapting two bungalows tailored to the needs of two of our clients. Not only do the bungalows support our clients current needs, but the homes have been future-proofed as the adaptions are suitable for if our clients’ needs change in the future. Ian McDougall, Group Managing Director at Amore Complex Care said: “This project demonstrates the power of partnership in delivering truly person-centred solutions. By working closely with Magenta Living, Halton Council, health professionals and commissioners, we’ve been able to create homes that provide both safety and opportunity, meeting the complex needs of the people we support while giving them independence, stability and longevity.” The process began by considering each of our client’s sensory, mobility, emotional and community needs, ensuring the bungalows accommodated them to provide truly person-centred support. Effective co-production was evident through the collaboration between our clients and team members, along with Health and Social Care professionals, and Magenta Living who all worked together to shape adaptations through shared responsibility. “The progress made [by Amore Complex Care] from a time when the service user displayed significant behaviours to now is remarkable. She now enjoyed a full life with activities tailored to her needs” – Pamela Marsden, Practice Manager of Halton Council’s Transition Team. Both of our clients had different needs and required different support. One of our clients had limited mobility with capacity to only walk a small distance. His previous accommodation wasn’t tailored towards his needs and involved navigating multiple steps to access outdoors. Our other client expresses sensory-seeking behaviours which provide essential proprioceptive regulation. Her previous property was unsuitable due to having shared walls with neighbours. This created a complaint risk and forced her to suppress self-regulation strategies. Adaptions in the properties included, grab rails, vinyl flooring to support ease of movement, single-level layout, accessible kitchen worktops and future-proofing the homes to accommodate changing mobility needs over time. We have seen a range of positive outcomes from our collaboration, including an 85% reduction in behaviours of concern and a meaningful 43% improvement in one of our client’ daily living skills since moving into the property. Alongside this, this client has improved access to preferred activities, supporting greater engagement in community activities. For our other client, we have seen a significant reduction in anxiety, greater outdoor engagement and positive impacts from the bungalow’s adaptions including the ability to now shower regularly. The mother of one of our clients said: “I’m really pleased and so very proud of how all our hard work has turned into a positive and productive team of people who really do care about my wishes and worries, but ultimately about my daughter, who is receiving the very best care and support from her amazing team” Winners will be announced at the Northwest Great British Care Awards on 14th November 2026, hosted in Manchester.
