Complex care is delivered to individuals with disabilities, long-term conditions and injuries that require clinical and/or behavioural support. This may include learning disabilities, physical disabilities, acquired brain injury and mental health conditions. LEARN MORE Can complex care support people with behaviours of concern? Yes. Often individuals displaying behaviours of concern, have an underlying condition. And at Amore Complex Care, our Support Workers are trained to use evidence-based Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) techniques and other therapeutic approaches to promote positive wellbeing. LEARN MORE Who typically needs complex care? Complex care is often required by people with disabilities, long–term conditions and injuries. This can include: Neurological conditions, such as spinal cord injury, brain injury and MS Learning disabilities and/or autism with complex needs Chronic or progressive illnesses Respiratory conditions requiring ventilation Epilepsy or seizure disorders PEG feeding requirements Physical disabilities requiring high levels of support OUR SERVICES What types of support are included in complex care? Complex care Support Workers are trained to meet the care needs of the individual they support. They can provide clinical support, behavioural support and support with overall wellbeing, including personal care and mental wellbeing through activities, social interactions and encouraging independence. How is complex care different from domiciliary care? Domiciliary care focuses on supporting individuals with personal care and household tasks. This can include washing, dressing, meal preparation and companionship. Whereas complex care involves multidisciplinary teams, supporting individuals not only with personal care, but tailored support for their clinical and behavioural needs. LEARN MORE Who provides complex care? Complex care is delivered by highly trained Support Workers who are led by a multidisciplinary team – giving them the tools to provide tailored support. At Amore Complex Care, our Support Workers benefit from nurse-led training and ongoing guidance from our Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Specialist and Registered Nurses. They are supported by a Registered Manager and guided by our Service Improvement Manager, creating a strong framework of expertise. This collaborative approach ensures every client receives high-quality, personalised support that empowers them to thrive in all aspects of life. Is 24-hour support available? Yes, individuals can receive 24/7 support – this is delivered with either waking night staff or sleep-in staff. The staffing approach to 24/7 support is based on the needs of the individual. Delivering Tailored Support How is a complex care plan created? Following a thorough assessment of an individual’s health and support needs, a complex care provider will collaborate with health and social care professionals, relatives and with the individual to create a bespoke care plan. The care plan will include routines, risks, preferences, dislikes and goals. Throughout the individual’s support journey, the care plan will be regularly reviewed and updated if necessary to ensure they always received the support they need. What is the goal of complex care? The aim is to support individuals to live safely, independently, and with dignity. Yes, complex care should always be personalised. Using detailed care plans, each individual receives support tailored to their communication style, culture, preferences, and lifestyle choices, alongside bespoke assistance designed to meet their specific care needs. How do I arrange complex care? A referral can be made by the individual, relative, Social Workers, NHS professional or Case Managers. Once a referral is made, a needs assessment to determine the level and type of support required. How is complex care funded? There are a variety of funding options available in the UK, but they can involve means-testing, which often reviews the individual’s support requirements, age, location and finances. You can contact us directly and we will arrange an assessment to understand the individual’s support requirements and assess if we can accommodate the required care needs. LEARN MORE Can clients choose their Support Workers? We understand it’s crucial that our clients feel comfortable with their Support Workers. That’s why we match clients and Support teams based on skills, personalities, experience and preferences. For clients with capacity, we also invite them to Support Worker interviews and for successful hires, they partake in our meet and greet service. This is a way to ensure both the client and Support Worker are well matched because we believe that strong relationships are essential for effective support. How do you ensure safety and quality of care? Led by our Service Improvement Manager, we adhere to strict safeguarding policies, conduct regular audits, and meet all regulatory requirements. Our staff undergo thorough background checks, receive comprehensive training, and benefit from continuous supervision to ensure consistently high standards of care. We also use a digital benchmarking tool to drive ongoing improvement across every area of our service. Through our digital care planning software, we take a transparent approach to support, giving clients, their families, and health and social care professionals real-time insight into the care we provide. These measures are just some of the reasons why we are rated Good in all areas of our CQC report. How much does your service cost? Costs vary depending on the level of support required. Factors such as the number of Support Workers needed, the duration of support, and the type of care provided all influence the overall fees. There are several ways to fund support packages, including Local Authority funding, NHS Continuing Healthcare, personal budgets, or private payment. We work closely with hospital discharge teams and families to ensure smooth transitions from hospital or residential care, back to the individual’s home.
