I’ve worked at Amore Complex Care since about 2017. I did leave for a short time and came back. I first originally started working for them as a Support Worker. Why do you love your role? I enjoy being quite involved with the staff members, getting to know the clients, seeing the clients weekly, and how welcoming everybody is and how supportive everybody is of each other. How has your career developed with us? The package that I did work on, I became Team Leader on. So that was my first progression, within clinical and I then was offered the position to be a Case Officer. Why did you want to join Amore Complex Care? My Dad worked for the company first. I heard that we had quite a wide range of different packages of care that I was interested in doing. I was 18 at the time of starting with Amore, so I was just starting up with my qualifications and trying to gain experience. What would you tell someone who is thinking about joining us? We are a very hard working team within complex care and we are very supportive. We have a variety of different experience in the office, so we’re very established in the idea of no answer gets left unanswered. How would you describe your job in one word? A roller coaster. We have ups and downs sometimes, but every day is completely different and we do have a really good team. What’s a fun fact about you? I spend quite a bit of time playing Minecraft. I have sensory issues, so this is something my staff need to monitor. What activities do I do? I love to go on long walks that my staff team will join me on, and I enjoy going on drives. When I move into my new home, and I would like to be encouraged to spend time in the garden and begin exploring my local area. What types of people do I get along with? People with good communication skills, who can help me with decision making and direction, without being demanding. Where do I live and what is my house like? I live in Clayton-le-Woods near Preston and Leyland. I have a lovely house with a big garden and lots of space for activities and a sensory room. My team How many people support me at one time? I am supported by 3 staff at a time. My staff don’t physically intervene but may need to de-escalate and redirect me. What are my team trained in? My staff will get a bespoke training course specifically to cover my needs. I am supported on 3:1 basis during the day and 1 sleeping staff member and 1 waking staff member of a night What shift patterns do my team do? 9am-9pm 9am-12am/sleep 9pm-9am What are my team trained in? My staff will get a bespoke training course specifically to cover my needs. SHIFTS – FULLT TIME Long day sleeps 09:00 -23:00 Sleep shift 09:00 Job responsibilities Assisting with Autism through goal-oriented activities and daily living skills. Monitor the service users physical and emotional well-being. Assisting with personal care. Supporting with sensory needs. Provide person-centred support. Support with household duties, such as cooking and cleaning. Assist the individual in developing and maintaining positive relationships in the community.
